Governor’s Directive – “Stay Safe, Stay Home”

Governor Gary Herbert has urged all Utahns to “STAY SAFE and STAY HOME” as of Friday evening. The Governor made the direct ask in the 4 pm press conference on Friday, March 27th.

Utah County Health Department supports the Governor’s directive and the public health order issued on 3.23.20 is still in place.

According to the Governor:

Utah is in the 1st phase of the “UTAH LEADS TOGETHER” plan.

Residents should “Stay Safe, Stay Home”, except for visits to grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. This is expected of all UTAHNS.

Examples – no playdates, no public gyms/fitness centers, swimming pools, recreational travel.

Business

Businesses are encouraged to offer telework options, where possible.

3 T challenge – get takeout from local restaurants 3 times a week

Individuals

Do not visit at risk populations – over 60 years old, hospitals, long term care facilities, those with underlying health conditions.

Refrain from gathering anywhere outside your home

Limit interaction with friends and family, unless an urgent need

Work from home whenever possible

Self quarantine, as appropriate

The directive is in place for two weeks, starting Friday evening, (March 27, 2020)

Local Health Departments/Elected Officials

Local health departments and elected officials may work together to put more stringent requirements in place at the local level.
