BeWise Program

The Wellness Clinic offers the BeWise Program, which provides free cardiovascular health screenings and health coaching to eligible Utah women. The program partners with the Utah Breast & Cervical Cancer Program to connect women to breast and cervical cancer screenings.

BeWise is available to women ages 35–64 who are mid-to-low-income, underinsured, or uninsured.

The goal of BeWise is to provide women with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to improve diet, physical activity, and other lifestyle behaviors in order to prevent, delay, and manage cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.

Eligibility

• Women ages 35-64 years old
• Based on household size and income. Click here to see if you qualify.
• Women with insurance may also qualify

FREE services (for those who qualify) include:

• Blood pressure check
• Blood cholesterol test (Lipid Panel)
• Blood sugar test (fasting glucose or HbA1c)
• Access to a personal health coach to help set and reach wellness goals
• Referrals to other free health programs:
  • Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
  • Diabetes Prevention Program
  • Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
  • Weight Watchers membership
• Paid medical referral visit and follow-up care, if needed

Health Classes

The BeWise Program offers free educational classes to the public focused on heart disease and overall wellness. Topics include (but are not limited to):

• Diabetes
• Cholesterol
• Blood pressure
• Weight management
• Mental health
• Physical activity and exercise

All classes will take place in Room 1600 at the Health and Justice Building:
