First West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Pool of 2025

The Utah County Health Department has confirmed the season’s first mosquito pool testing positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) in the Lake Shore/North Palmyra area. The area received additional mosquito treatment immediately after the positive test, and follow-up testing at the same location has since come back negative.

Residents are encouraged to protect themselves from mosquito bites by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves, and eliminating standing water on their properties. The Utah County Mosquito Abatement District continues countywide mosquito control efforts by hand, truck, drone, and plane.
